All data presented comes from NASA EONET (Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker), which aggregates records from multiple satellite sources. It is essential to consider the following limitations: the estimate of hectares burned is partial — approximately 42% of events do not have magnitude data recorded by the original source; there is a time lag between the occurrence of events and their update in the system; and the data does not account for reforestation or recovery of affected areas. The numbers reflect only what has been formally recorded — the actual destruction may be greater.
